Lusting for Diamond Watches

Have you ever lusted for Swiss diamond watches? Or do you already have one and can’t seem to stop marveling at its craftsmanship? Not all are fortunate enough to own a precious diamond watch. In fact, they say that if you need to ask how much a diamond watch is, then you can’t possibly afford it.

Contrary to popular belief, not all of the world’s most expensive watches are dripping with diamonds. Oh, yes, there’s one – the Chopard Super Ice Cube watch – whose value is estimated at $1,130,620. Every square centimeter of this diamond watch is paved with diamonds, totaling 66.16 carats. It includes 1,897 brilliants, 288 trapeze cuts, and its center-case is set with 16 flawless squares.

However, many watches sell for seven figures, such as the Blancpain 1735, because of the so-called "complications" in its mechanism. This watch has almost half a dozen complications, qualifying it as a "grande complication." It boasts of a perpetual calendar, a split-second chronograph, a minute repeater, a tourbillon, a moon phase minder, and about 740 separate components.

Offer a watch with complications and a diamond watch to a woman, though, and the woman will choose the latter anytime. There’s nothing like diamonds to speak volumes about the wearer. Diamond watches are status symbols that are the easiest to show off. Very few people realize that a single piece of jewelry – and that is a diamond watch – can be just as impressive as Harry Winston chandelier earrings.

How to Choose?

Watches that are paved with diamonds can easily fetch upwards of $100,000. These days, however, any watch retailing for more than this amount will likely to be of interest only to genuine diamond watch enthusiasts. But even if watch companies don’t make a lot of money off the sale of these watches because of the amount they spend on research and labor, they are still produced to afford their brand an image of exclusivity.

People who can afford to own diamond watches are ecstatic about the mere pleasure of owning them, whether or not these pieces are actually worn. Since almost every major Swiss watch manufacturer has at least one diamond watch model, it would be wise to check all their online catalogs before making a purchase at their shop. A diamond watch is a pricey purchase and you have to be sure that what you will eventually choose is not just based on a flight of fancy. Pick a style that will satisfy you for a long, long time.
